Happy New Year’s Day, everybody!
How did your NYE go? From my Instagram feed, I learned that many of you stayed in with good food and even better companies. Honestly, what a perfect way to ring in 2016. That said, we managed to go out.
It’s funny how adaptable we all are to life. At least that is my case. Growing up, I’m never a party kid – food parties excluded. I don’t drink; nor do I enjoy the loud music or yelling to be heard.
I loved staying in. I still enjoy that. But looking back, I’m probably at my prime time of party-going due to the nature of my jobs, and for better or worse, unexpectedly managed to get by quite smoothly.
Last night was when one of Boston’s legendary restaurants, Clio, served its last private party before it transforms itself into another updated food scene, Uni, in the New Year. Hubby and I received a kind invite to join the send-off/NYE party, and we couldn’t be happier to have made it.
The hor dourves served highlighted many of Chef Ken Oringer’s creative endeavors. Hubby loves anything foie gras so it was heaven to him given the creative varieties served. I gobbled down the venison tartare and petite ham puffs and felt more than satisfied.
Okay I didn’t mean to turn this into a food review post with unmatched photos of my outfit.
My point is – and my apologies for the long detour – this is almost what I wore to the party. No kidding. See my party look here for proof.
I love versatile, classic items like these. And don’t assume that all classic items could cost you an arm or a leg. The silk blouse, the faux suede skirt, and the layering pleather pants I’m wearing are all indeed budget finds from past or past-past seasons.
I do like to invest in shoes but that’s totally a personal choice. I’ve had a pair of 5-year-lasting Nine West too.
One of my goals in the New Year is to find you gals more shopping choices like those. Now that alone is going to make 2016 so much better than 2015 already.
