    Uniquely Personal

I received this single-sized unisex T-shirt in an event gift bag last year. The front print was stiff and dull; the simple linear cuts were flavorless. It was, well, basic at best.

I decided it strictly belonged to our shared loungewear dresser where I sometimes borrow his when mine runs short. Hubby and I have both worn it to clean the house, cook, workout, rooftop barbecue, and walk and bathe Butter our dog.

The tee went through so many rough wears and ruthless heavy-duty washes that I lost track. And just like that, it took on a renewed life. The humbled print and weathered cotton became uniquely personal. It is grown.

I wonder if further damage may push its limits, as I now tend it like an evening dress (another irony that probably deserves another chapter). But try this before you shell out a quarter of your rent’s worth on a made-worn shirt of the moment. The process was plainer than I would expect and the results superior.
