Besides establishing a brand synonymous of using over-the-top faux fur, Hannah Weiland’s unapologetically girly designs are refreshing and authentic and, to me, where her true assets lie. A heavy reference to the iconic 60s vibes elevates the economical looking faux fur and those childlike sartorial details.
I adore the way how Weiland goes all out on a theme – be it a saccharine floral pattern of some girlish pink – and finish it with an avant-garde touch to transform a familiar concept to offer an original and modern perspective.
Her extensive use of faux fur may serve a pertinent goal other than just sustainability. The self-referential determination jibes with a strong sense of postmodern individuality and responsibility. The combination of all those actually lends Shrimps a highly contemporary facade despite the nostalgic references.
I chose this coat for the electrifying contrast between its humble print and hues and the lush faux fur. I’m also eyeing for Shrimps faux-pearl embellished bag. The playful design oozes optimism. It is another classic personification of Shrimps quintessence as I understand it.
