The Thrills

So shops were closed. Streets were cleared. The air was cool and refreshing. And the fuzzy-wuzzy coat I’ve been living in felt extra cozy.

That was our Thanksgiving Day in Brooklyn. Despite the ensuing food plans in the evening, the hubs and I decided to grab a cup of Joe and enjoy a brief few hours of down time at one of the quieter neighborhoods in town. It was a long-due sanity check we both needed.

With both our birthdays coinciding the holiday season, festivity and likely over indulgence in fare at our house usually lasts a few months counting in the Lunar New Year tradition we keep.

Growing up, all festivities were heavily accentuated in our house. It’s a spirit I meant to keep except that inevitably, the idea of holidays is now more relaxation than excitement as I mature.

From play in the past to now work, the major foundation of our thrills can, thankfully, undergo a transformation. Ladies, there are indeed rewarding perks of aging!

Today the town is enlivened once again after the brief hiatus. I’m heading out for a few meetings with friends.

What’s the plan for you?

On a separate note, my bias toward the ultra cozy shearling coats in chilly winter is not entirely ungrounded – it’s one of the reasons I choose going out over stay-in on days like this. And if you’re still ruminating on holiday gift shopping, treat yourself and get the coat you’ve wanted. Financial freedom is part of the age-reward package.
