We finally made it to the Blue Hills at Stone Barns in the past Labor Day weekend. Almost 20 courses of fresh bites in novel presentations were paced over a span of four-hour long dining. My unease kicked in toward the end since counting in the travel time, we would’ve left Butter, our dog, at home alone for over six hours which would be two hours more than our usual maximum. But we both admit that the distinct experience – which also featured a quick visit to the kitchen – was worth the anxiety. The overwhelming number of courses was nicely balanced out with those rather restrained portions. And the highlight to us was certainly the fresh seasonal veggies with minimal handling. But that’s not all there’s to it. As they say, nobody remembers what they eat at a dinner but the dessert. There is certain truth to that. I could’ve polished off another serving of the condensed milk soft serve even at the end of the feast. Scroll to the bottom for a few peeks into our lunch.
