I tend to approach haircuts in the extreme. But during this shoot, it was one of few but significant moments when I appreciated that my stylist made me keep it at an awkward length – awkward as in that it’s longer than I considered a bob yet definitely shorter than a long style. His point was that I could still tie up at times. And it was one of those days when we were losing the sunset on site and the hair just won’t cooperate after a long sweaty day.
It’s always cool to have an alternative, isn’t it? This tee is cut into irregular, staggered lines. Fastening the tie transforms a boxy structure into a vision of draped fluidity. Here I’m freeing the tie to leave the construction in its organic form for the particular styling purpose.
Alternatively, the slightly decorated – kimono-like in my view – option probably presents a more aggressive design. Critics noted that the collection was a contemporary tribute to the designer’s Japanese root and I cannot agree more.
Either way, the languish appeal is fascinating. And either way, it’s definitely one of the more versatile pieces I’ve worn.
