An overly cynical trend often suffer a short-lived craze. When done right, anonymity is one of the prized qualities that turn some designs into classics.
When structured into a boxy shape, a robe jacket is one of my essentials to create a minimalist silhouette. This one by VINCE is not the case. But the perfectly tailored garment turned out to be just as versatile as its slouchy brother.
The sleek lines got exaggerated or even transposed as in this case, generating fresh insights and stories.
This is how I do Sundays.
The visuals are Scandinavian but the functionality seems to be idiosyncratic.
Another key word: versatile.
And eyes wide open, as I see hope in works by designers like Demeulemeester.
This jacket is an apt example of how brilliantly broken lines create structure. Fierce.
If I can pack minimalist, feminine, and edgy characters all in one form, this is it.
