The blazing sun in one scorcher after another, my permanent shiny-like-a-mirror face, the humid air… everything says we’re at the height of summer. Most often, when we hear exaggerated silhouettes, we associate the term with cooler temps – think ultra strong coat shoulders, crinkled thigh-high boots, and extended sweater arms, but an edgy cut today is more ubiquitous than ever.
Could it have anything to do with our efforts to counteract the diehard perfectionist inside most creatives? Resisting fear for creative failures remains a daily effort.
A broken silhouette here and a raw hemline there – the imperfect details we create are as alluring as the process of pushing forward through creative challenges.
Both the asymmetric blouse and the cutout skirt I’m wearing fall along these lines. Finished in humble monochromes, these practical and highly versatile items also easily transform from day to night, making great edgy work attire pieces.
These clear-heeled suede sandals, on the other hand, are jeans’ best friends too.
On a separate note, are you also coping in heatwaves? As sticky and gross as it can be outside now, I’m not complaining. I’d still pick a shiny face over cold feet.
