    Staycation

    August 21, 2017

I haven’t been away for a while. Some of you might have noticed.

“What would you do for love”? I was asked the question in an impending collaboration. Butter, our Frenchie, is turning 15 months. The bread’s delicate health requires extra care and prevents them from air travels. A little under one year since Butter came home with us, one successful battle against pneumonia, numerous trips to the vet’s, and even more sleepless nights of the worried novice dog parents are a few informing figures. And among all is also staycation.

But we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The fact that we are in likely the most eventful city of all helps. Movie night bears an unmistakable seasonal flare. The sprawling lawn near us where the weekly Summer Movie Night holds place boasts picnic-style (or rather, free-style) viewing and attracts food trucks and idling pets. It’s the nearest quasi-safari experience by us.

Staycation also prompted frequent, extensive research of the latest in town. We being big art show goers, a few upcoming ones on top of our list are the “Art and China After 1989: Theater of the World,” and Ai Weiwei’s “Good Fences Make Good Neighbors, both at Guggenheim opening in October. I also anticipate MOMA’s long-due fashion exhibition “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” organized by Paola Antonelli.

What else is worth seeing in town? I’m all ears.
