Sculpting heels – and perhaps toes too – is perhaps as far as creativity can go on footwear. It’s one story to push the limits of our imagination and yet another to still make fashion wearable.
I remember a seminar discussion back in fashion school on certain manufacturers’ reuse of cloth patterns for new seasons. Why not, I remember thinking. For mass-market ready-to-wear, that’s the most economic way. I mean, a skirt is a skirt in the end of the day.
And shoes are shoes.
For that matter, I applaud Maison Margiela for their trademark of pushing limits without breaking them. These bulging, daring structured heels are unapologetically emotional – after all, not all funky designs pull it off.
I do wish the bulging parts finer in their making. I wish they were more integral to the rest of the shoes. They way they are now is playful and perhaps a bit too toy-like for my taste. It’s a personal thing but for the price, I wish they were more adult-like. But bottom line, I recommend these.
Those Celine mules have a finer, mellow edge. They are, in a sense, more versatile for everyday wear.
Which pair would you pick out of the two? Or both?

Are the Celine mules easy/comfy to walk in? Would you recommend them? 🙂 TIA!
