    Scarf-Tie

    February 5, 2016

It’s snowing heavily outside as I type this. I love a snow day when all I need to deal with is a frosty view – and that is, for now. In a few hours, I’m going to slash through the storm for a quick pre-dinner glass of wine with my girlie, Pam, who writes The Girl From Panama.

It’s interesting how this hobby-turned job develops. I get to hang out with a fabulous and intelligent group of ladies like Pam, and I became hypersensitive to the weather.

Recently, I did an interview called the Banana Series with Sashion, a chic online retailer based in Canada and a working pal to me. I was asked how I’d think the Eastern and Western cultures have shaped my personal style over the years. I answered as follows:

“Actually, the more I know about the Western culture, the more common ground I find between the two, especially when it comes to the fundamentals such as the pursuit of humanities. I guess it is and is not surprising. Style in my culture has been a constantly evolving, amorphous idea in the past few decades. In that sense, rather than building a specific style in me, my upbringing probably did more in shaping my personality and forging certain energy. I get to release that energy here where things are more expressive and individual.”

Yes, I get to release that energy free-style except when the weather grumps up. Now extreme weather conditions stress me out. The details can sound too trivial to be bothered but the difficulties are practical.

I waited for a reasonable occasion to wear this sweater just as is, as I don’t think this knit needed any accessories. The scarf-tie, the ribbed knit, and the slouchy fit altogether are like an all-in-one panacea. Thanks to the sweater’s generous fit, underneath is naturally my fitted thermal shirt, a proud winter must-have of mine.

It’s Friday again. This coming weekend will be a jolly fête of my favorite Chinese holiday, the Lunar New Year!

What’s your plans for the weekend? Stay chic but first, stay warm x.

Wow! What a unique sweater! Love it! If there were a pair of jeans that I could wear every day, it would be this one. It looks comfortable, and I love the intentional unfinished look at the bottom. #Flawless
