    Reminiscence, Loud N’ Dark

    December 3, 2016

Oversized bow, raw hems, exquisite trimmings, prints of many unexpected, shrunken – yes shrunken – concert sweats, crocheted doily collars, and gothic hair and makeup – Marc Jacobs’ FW 16 show, though ironically a bit dated as of today, was loaded of emotion and reminiscence of spectacles.

There are dainty ballerina prints on my blouse, but remotely identifiable. Other prints include cats, mice, and more – all inventively recreated to fit the retro, gothic vibes and the monochrome canvases they are spread on.

The shirt is loud, gothic, highly Marc Jacobs, but wearable and accessible. It’s certainly not a black satin blouse that will likely outlive your keenness anyway; rather, it’s a pulsating and relevant little piece that I have to now contain my desire to collect them all.

These Vetements are callbacks from the past season with subtle variations. The fact that Vetements is able to constantly launch reissues is certainly another buyer’s confidence boost on top of the label’s iconic status.

So I’m all layered, retro upon retro – watch out, these can be the classics of tomorrow.
