Despite its growing popularity, this is actually my first official attempt on Korean fashion. I always find the so-called K-pop fashion to be fascinatingly difficult to describe in just one short sentence. It’s classy, chic, polished, and quite moody in an interesting way. The usually lady-like cuts can surprise with some vibrant twists that are cute, street, rebellious, or totally grungy. All in all, it’s tempting.
Enough said. So when SHOP GET IT K contacted me for a collaboration, I thought it was time to demystify this whole idea and try it first-hand. The site carries a curated collection of moderately priced Korean fashion and beauty that ship internationally from Korea. That said, the links are sponsored but opinions are mine.
The first item I got is this grey dropped-shoulder collarless cocoon jacket – and just that sounds marvelous, doesn’t it? The relaxed shape is elegant and modern; the lightweight fabric is perfect for spring transition. To me, it’s the cute black piping trimming the edges that screams K-style. I find it flattering than excessive – for a mostly unfussy dresser like myself, a hint of girly flair brings the perfect amount of balance.
This second item, the beige lace skirt, probably presents a more universal appeal. It’s a safe bet for the uncertain crowd, me included. And I see the K-spirit in its petite fit and modish hue. The perfectly controlled length imparts the allure of a midi without overwhelming a smaller frame. And I joked with hubby, calling the shade latte nude. It appears warmer than beige, and lighter than tan. Nothing pre-existing seems quite right. Latte comes to mind – duh – latte fixes, flatters, brightens anything in my humble book.

I cannot possibly close this post without touching the fit. As you’ll learn, many styles offer a rather streamlined number of options. I was offered either a size S or M. Based on what I got, size Small fits an American 0 or 2. I haven’t laid fingers on size M, but my guess is it’ll fit a regular 4 to 6. Feel free to leave questions on comment. Meanwhile, if you’ve been curious about Korean fashion like I was, browse through their site. You may be pleasantly surprised. 🙂
