New York has now officially entered coat season. The dramatic temperature drops lately hit me hard as I just returned from a visit to China where the still warm, moist air physically and mentally spoiled me. But other than flaky skin, it was all good: for one, I smell holidays walking down the chilly streets in the city – if the holiday season has a scent, I think it’d have the tone of menthol in it; and more importantly, I love coats – I collect them; I wish to sleep in them (not literally but).
I had the pleasure to visit the brand new VINCE 5th Ave store just before I traveled, and selected two fabulous coats shown here. I went three sizes larger with the light blue fuzzy mohair plaid coat, because outerwear has to be roomy – it’s a rule inscribed in my book. The dark grey coat with fine checked lines, on the other hand, was built to fit oversize so I took my regular size. I almost forgot how beautifully VINCE coats fit and how cozy the fabrics are. So this winter, I’m re-experiencing an old classic and it feels holiday appropriate.
