This season’s Proenza Schouler RTW marks a definite highlight in my view. Some standout pieces such as the tie-dye velvet variations, the frosty raincoat, the camouflage knit, and this Care-Label-printed sweatshirt are promptly elevated via apt photography and effective social campaigns, building for the once accessory-focused label a more robust, well-rounded image. The launch of its Arizona fragrance is another example of this young label’s ambition. I mean, having had the dramatic trajectory of Zac Posen, the industry if nothing else inspires awe.
On a separate note, KASSL, one of Barney’s latest additions from Germany, brings to the American market some beautifully made vinyl shells. I call them shells for the coated coats’ light-weighted structure. The minimal treatment on hems and garment panels are characteristically European, and the demure color selection is delightfully nuanced. I’m keen on trying the coat in silver too.
