Also included here is a campaign I did with Bobbi Brown a while ago to illustrate how this tee has been my go-to this summer. That prompted a thought that streetwear labels are indeed for a sound reason the flavor of the day. Besides paying homage to authenticity and individuality, streetwear’s ease and versatility address a key problem in our modern life: our inevitable aspiration to approximate to do-it-all (a feminist rant against it is, regrettably, not changing the landscape much).
“Functionality should definitely not take a backseat. Nor is looking smart. Or actually, anything else in our life, now I think about it”.
Sounds familiar.
While prioritization painfully tackles with the ambiguous relativity and an unnaturally trim ego, it takes time and practice. Yet building an efficient wardrobe with a few core streetwear pieces serves as a temporary but quick remedy before we learn to streamline.
Our wardrobe core pieces don’t have to be literally street; rather, the streetwear trend seems to me to point to a lifestyle that’s efficient, authentic, and aesthetically exciting. If somehow the event of streetwear associated itself with going against fine cashmere in good etiquette, revisiting the story may just uncover some pleasant surprises.
