    Elevated Essentials

    November 22, 2016

This belted tee readily travels between a statement piece and a wardrobe layering staple, depending on needs and styling. The slightly elevated waist, as facilitated via the chunky, rustic belt, singles the piece out.

The velvet-ribbed panel tights are another top seasonal essentials to me. Thanks to those, pumps, and even sandals, instantly become relevant on chilly days.

Among all professional experiences designer Chitose Abe has garnered, the standout part she likes to pin top to her resume seems to be her extended experience at Comme des Garçons. The fact is, the training markedly proves its significance on her garments.

Her meticulous tailoring smoothly pieces together patchworks and panels. Thoughtful management on edgy details drastically enhances wearability and proves intellectual prudence behind Abe’s creative visions. At least that’s how Sacai appears to me.

Besides the technical part, it’s also refreshing to see Japanese cultural heritage on some pieces. I usually stay away from heavy marks of such details. But consistent of the label’s disciplined character, the details are so deftly updated that overpowering isn’t even a remote concern.

And speaking of versatile clothing, the temps have lately plummeted uncontrollably in a matter of hours in the city. Now I wonder if all my transition pieces will see the light of day. What’s more whimsical than fashion is weather on the East Coast.
