The Adwoa Aboah x John Hardy collaboration has been personally one of the most anticipated recent launches. For her resolute authenticity and individuality, the supermodel the model of 2017 and one of my favorites. It’s not exactly a surprise when I learned about her partnership of the jeweler for their shared faith in female empowerment.
Having closely worked with John Hardy’s creative director Hollie Bonneville Barden, Aboah wove elements that hold personal significance into the house’s signature artistry. Aboah’s favoring a maximalist approach to gemstones, the gemstoned silver and light gold pieces from the collection do not overwhelm but bring a brilliant touch of modern edge instead. The multi-chain bracelets and necklaces fix a layered look in an instance. My personal favorites are the hoop earrings and signet pinky rings. Finished in either diamonds, pink tourmalines and pyrite, these delicate rings draw a sense of heirlooms that’s perfectly timed for today’s retro trend. Coming in various sizes and shapes, the hoop earrings create highly dimensional looks that draw attention to our facial features.
I recorded two short videos in their studio where an artist hand draws and makes John Hardy’s signature silver braiding. The jewelry making here apparently was a more elaborate and labor-intensive process than I had assumed.
The full line of 35-piece, limited-edition capsule collection is now available exclusively on Farfetch for two weeks. Take a tour of Aboah’s vision here.
