It’s one of the names that’d bring back such fond memories: at our house, it used to belong exclusively to my mother’s wardrobe. I remember watching her getting dressed with the purses for corresponding occasions.
And then upon graduating from Fashion School years ago, it was the name on tip of our exciting tongues as two ingénues in the game – bestie and I – were feverishly discussing which designer handbag she should be making her very first splurge on. The choice was at the time our best attempt at defying against logos.
Besides its signature Italian craftsmanship and contemporary character, Furla is also personally the namesake of an evolving lifestyle that feels congenial and habitual.
The latest is, I’ve been eyeing for their recent Metropolis Mini expansion. They are a bouncy and delightful gang. They are the metropolitan me.
The structured base stands upright and is painlessly practical. I’d consider the perforated venting flap my homage to the sizzling season. But the reality is, it was a pain in the neck to choose from the infinite supplies of those creative fold-over flaps and I needed a rationale. The flaps also got me thinking: would they carry out custom designs one day? I’d want my future Frenchie, prenatally named Butter, on it.
Before that happens, I’ll be carrying this one to a late night diner – a norm to stretch before a long shooting day, a Sunday brunch – a standard to decompress after the said day, and all work meetings/events in between the said days.
See how I’m carrying on the legacy?
